Looking back to Muker from the Ramps Holme Bridge path Muker can be seen against Muker Side and, higher up, Muker Common which rises to 675m at Lovely Seat. The meadow flowers are beginning to grow and will soon blossom. Muker hosted the t.v. series "All Creatures Great and Small" as the location of the Darrowby Flower Show.

The village of Muker is bounded to the south by the Straw Beck, which converges with the River Swale just outside of the village. Straw Beck is the product of many becks issuing from Muker Common, Thwaite and Angram.

Guildy Hall can be accessed from the village centre by crossing the attractive footbridge spanning Straw Beck. From the bridge there are delightful views along the Straw Beck, in each direction.

The teashop is a traditional tea shop serving homemade cakes, cream teas and light lunches. They describe themselves as being extremely passionate about the food they produce. The twin rooms of the tea shop each have open fires and outside is a patio with stunning views.

The owners of the Farmers Arms have gone to lengths to ensure their property reflects Swaledale's history, traditions and atmosphere. The floor is stone flagged and there is a dry stone wall fireplace. Their ales are stocked from Muker's own microbrewery, e.g. their Farmers Shepherdess, their Crackpot IPA and their popular lager, the Farmers Draft Ewe. They also sell freshly cooked food.

Swaledale Woollens use local Swaledale and Wensleydale wool for their knitwear. They sell a wide range of woolen knitwear such as sweaters, cardigans, hats, rugs, scarves and socks. They also sell sheepskin slippers and gloves.

The Literary Institute in Muker is one of two public buildings. Its lower room has a free public exhibitiion of photographs and artefacts. it is open to the public during most days unless in use for other purposes.

St Mary's is a Grade II listed building. It was erected in 1580 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I (the Virgin Queen) (1533-1603) The nave and chancel are of the same age. The tower dates to 1791 and has two bells, believed to have been retrieved from Marrick Abbey at the time of the dissolution of monastries. The church is also known as the Church of St Mary the Virgin and is of Anglican denomination..

St Mary's churchyard houses one burial from the First World War, a soldier serving with the Yorkshire Regiment. His name was Private Thomas Clarkson 325648, of the 1st/9th Battalion Durham Light Infantry, formerly 30597 Yorkshire Regiment.

Muker has a population of about 300 and has not changed much in appearance during the last few hundred years. The former route of the Coast to Coast path passes by Muker on the opposite riverbank, whilst the more modern route omits Muker and instead passes over Melbecks Moor. The old route is regarded as the low level alternative Coast to Coast path, and is preferred by most walkers.

This is the largest art and craft centre within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It displays a diverse and extensive range of work from more than 50 independent artists.

Muker's cottages are built almost exclusively from the same stone walls and slate roofs as they originally were, with considerable variation in style and size.
