Jack Standards, Birkdale Ridge - Coast to Coast
This canvas print captures the twin cairns of Jack Standards standing on the Birkdale Ridge above Hartley Moor. Positioned on a band of raised limestone level with Coldbergh Scar, the two stone towers have guided travellers across these exposed uplands for centuries. Visible from great distances across the moorland landscape, they form one of the most distinctive landmarks on the eastern section of the Coast to Coast route, which passes close by on the far side of the ridge. Photographed from Tailbridge Road, this image highlights the cairns against the open skies and rolling fells of the upper Eden Valley.
