An Un-named Slack above Castle Chamber

Castle Chamber, Bay Ness, Coast to Coast

Castle Chamber is a coastal rocky feature north of Robin Hood's Bay, between Bulmer Steel and Craze Naze. The Coast to Coast path edges past this feature on the cliff top, as it makes its way in the direction of Whitby Marina to Hawsker Bottoms. At this point the Coast to Coast path passes over an un-named Slack that channels water flowing from the rising land of Bay Ness. The Slack has to be crossed over. Not only is is wet, but it is very muddy and slippery. As the Path is close to the edge of the cliffs, extra care must be taken here. Castle chamber is east north east of Bay Ness and north of Robin Hood's Bay.

Un-named Slack and Waterfall

As the Un-named Slack reaches the cliff edge at Castle Chamber it produces a waterfall which can be made out when looking from the north. It is not visible when looking from the south.

Cliff Top near Castle Chamber

The cliff top between Castle Chamber and Cow & Calf is vertical. The Chamber may have reference to the cave extending into the rocks near the foot of the cliff, part of which has now been blocked off following a rockfall.

Cow & Calf to Craze Naze

The headland jutting out in the middle ground is Craze Naze. This is the view looking north from the cliffs above Cow & Calf.
