The Hart Leap Stones consist primarily of 2 Stones, although there is a suggestion that another associated Stone lays nearby. Each of the Stones peaks from the heather and grasses along the east side of Yarlesgate. The first, and nearest, of these Stones has the name Hart Leap etched upon its south side.

The Hart Leap Stones are about 2 foot high. The meaning of the words "Hart Leap" are meant to signify the death leap of a hart during an ancient hunt.

Cross Dikes are large linear earthworks up to a kilometre long, where there is more than one ditch running parallel to banks of raised earth. They usually date from mid Bronze Age. In most cases they were territorial boundary markers and may also have been used as trackways, droveways or defence. They are quite rare and are useful because they show how land was divided up in prehistoric times.

The Earthwork runs across the spine of Glaisdale Rigg. The ditches of the north section are narrower than the 3m width of the southern section. Heads can be seen in the background, rising on the far side of Great Fryup Dale.
